Social Story: I am going to Neutral Bay Public School
As part of Bayley's Guide to Starting School, on a number of days students are encouraged to read the social story "I am going to Neutral Bay Public School". Included in this story are many pictures of our school context in order to familiarise your child with what school will look like. We encourage you to read this story frequently as it will help students to feel more comfortable with the transition they are about to undertake.

Fine Motor Activities
A child’s fine motor skills determines their ability to precisely control smaller muscles in their hands, thumbs and fingers. These skills work together to provide the coordination required for many daily tasks such as holding and gripping small items, buttoning clothing, eating, turning pages and more. There are lots of ways that you can support your child in developing their fine motor skills, using objects that you have lying around at home.
The document below contains a grid with some activity ideas for fine motor activities at home. We encourage you to work on some of these activities over the next few months before your child commences Kindergarten.

Colouring Sheets
Colouring is another way to develop coordination, self-control and concentration in your child. We encourage you to attempt one or more of these colouring sheets before your child commences Kindergarten. This is a fun, at-home activity and does not need to be submitted to the classroom teacher.
